About Foster Kinship Sports

Foster Kinship Sports is a youth-focused organization that uses structured sports programming to foster forged resilience, mental wellness, and life skills development among youth ages 11–18 in foster care, group homes, and the juvenile justice system. Rooted in a trauma-informed approach, our programs are designed to cultivate emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and behavioral mastery by integrating athletic training with mental health support, mentorship, and leadership development. Each activity is intentionally structured to improve sports performance and physical performance while reinforcing principles like anger management, mental decisiveness, and mental toughness—skills that serve participants far beyond the playing field.

Through targeted partnerships with educators, caregivers, juvenile supervisors, and community leaders, Foster Kinship Sports provides pathways to improved academic performance and education distinction, reinforcing the idea that personal growth and scholastic success go hand-in-hand. Our model encourages interpersonal flexibility, teamwork, and positive peer engagement while offering consistent opportunities for youth to build competence, confidence, and character. By delivering a holistic experience that connects athletics with mental health, personal development, and educational advancement, Foster Kinship Sports plays a vital role in reshaping outcomes for vulnerable youth across city, county, and state levels.
